The empowerment of others

I'm going to give a long answer to a short question.  Sorry, but it's a big question.  I've already checked out nearby churches, and they were good churches all striving to bring people closer to God, and they suited a lot of people just fine, they just didn't suit me.  I wanted to be a part of a church that has a thriving young-adult ministry, where I can be a part of a Christ-centered community.  I also didn't wanna have to drive 30-45 minutes to get there.  For me it was important to be in a church that empowered women to be in leadership positions.  I also wanted a church where you could 'come as you are' and not have to dress up in a 3-piece suit to fit in (our Father is more concerned about the adornment of our souls, than what we wear on the outside).  I also wanted a church that offered Communion (or the Eucharist, or The Lord's Supper) during a service more than once a quarter.  I wanted a church where the people were genuinely seeking God, not their own agenda (i.e. status, finding a date at a 'meat-market', etc.)

I drove by, saw the church, stepped inside, asked somebody, and they told me where and when "The Table" was.  After that, I just showed up (That's my simple answer.)

It's better heard in person.  Ask me sometime.

I came back because I liked what I saw!  I liked how the people make me feel-welcome!  The folks at "The Table" are genuine, flawed people like myself that are on the same journey towards being more like the Savior, Jesus Christ.  The teachings are solid, the peole are good folks, the worship music is great, and I feel the Holy Spirit is in the midst of us when I'm there.  I would recommend it to any young adult or couple that is looking for a church community to belong to and be an active part of.

Be ashamed to die until you have won some victory for humanity. (Those aren't my words, Horace Mann said that, but I've adopted that way of thinking.)

Chocolate Chip cookies, great milkshakes, Hamburger stronganoff, Pot Roast, and the list goes on and on....
